Dr. Shanthanna is a clinician scientist with research interests in acute, transitional, and chronic pain. He serves in key membership positions in local, national, and international organizations including the Chair,
Interventional Special Interest Group, Canadian Pain Society (CPS), and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA). He has more than 100 peer reviewed publications, 46 successful grant applications with 24 of them as a primary applicant and has been invited for more than 45 presentations in many national and international meetings on anesthesia and chronic pain. He is presently leading a 300-patient cohort study, and a unique multiple intervention pathway randomized controlled trial aimed to prevent CPSP after TKA.
